17 Jul NERG Tests McCaskey Healthcare Students
On April 11th, Nursing Educators Resource Group, LLC was requested by Mrs. Nelleke Beats, B.Ed., RN from the National Occupation Competency Testing Institute to assist with the testing of 42 Health Career students.
All of the students were McCaskey Seniors–most with plans to further their education in the health field. Some were already accepted at Registered Nurse, Physical Therapy, Licensed Practical Nurse, and other health occupations institutes of higher learning.
Students were tested on the following clinical skills:
1. Hand washing
2. Gown change
4. Vital signs
Two consultants from Nursing Educators Resource, LLC volunteered to assist with the testing. Upon arriving we were met by Nelleke Beats, B.Ed, RN, and met the other educators that also volunteered. We were given our instructions on how to complete the test forms then treated to a nice, healthy breakfast.
Volunteers were then paired off to begin testing. There were 12 students in each group. The classroom stations were well stocked and organized with the necessary supplies the day before. When the last student was tested, it was 1:30 pm and we wondered how the day went SO fast.
All the evaluators returned to the orientation classroom to enjoy a wonderful lunch. Everyone shared in a discussion on how the morning and early afternoon developed before completing all the testing forms.
Our volunteers very much enjoyed being a part of this educational process and are thrilled to know that McCaskey High School offers these valuable programs!
